2,6-Xylyllithium is an intermediate in synthesizing 2-Ethyl-m-xylene-d5 (E932362), a labeled analogue of 2-Ethyl-m-xylene (E932360), one of the components thermocontact pyrolysis tars. It has been also found to be one of the volatile organic emissions from Motor Vehicles, that might have impact on ozone production.
