Bis[2-(2-chloroethoxy)ethyl] Ether, is an impurity in the synthesis of 2-[2-[2-(2-Chloroethoxy)ethoxy]ethoxy]ethanol (C365875), which is a polyethylene glycol used in the synthesis of novel glycolipids that bind HIV-1 cell surface glycoprotein Gp120 with potential application to pharmaceutical HIV-1 drugs. Also used in the synthesis of PET imaging agents targeting brain β-amyloid.
